In 1980, Cobham PLC acquired the RF components and Microwave subsystems business of M/A-Com and integrated the RF cable business with its own sensor division, Cobham Sensor Systems, at Exeter, New Hampshire, USA.
The new unit which opened in 2009 manufactures bulk cable and connectors and has the capability to perform cable testing: flexture endurance, abrasion resistance, RF shielding effectiveness and exposure to chemical and fluids.
Cobham manufactures high performance RF and microwave coaxial cables that range from 0.09 inch (2.3 mm) diameter FZ09, flexible cable to 0.92 inch (23 mm) diameter FE92 flexible cable. These cable are characterized for low insertion loss for ground-based applications.
Cobham offers the advantage to customers of having the cable and connector manufacturing facilities co-located.
